Life in Constanta, simply put, is a huge contrast from life in Western Europe. Everyday brings a story to tell. We could go on for a while but let’s start with the day we found our stray cat. We were on our way home from our friends grandparents who just treated us with some Palinca (a strong Romanian spirit). wellcome to Romania! As we walked the road a small kitten decided to say hello. He seemed lost, walking close to the big road. We couldn’t just leave him there. We decided to ask around to see if the locals knew anything. One of the store merchants close by told us it was stray. After consulting with our coordinator, we all decided to take him in. So the journey home started with our kitten in a box. Going through different busses an old lady with a big bouquet of flowers decided to pick the kitten up, she hugged and petted him so strongly it seemed like she was almost suffocating him. Even though she held onto him tightly we, at last, made it home.
Our kitten received the name “Bubbles” and a home in the men’s bathroom to start with. As time went on Bubbles slowly grew and received an upgrade to our office. We all started to get attached to this special cat who eventually started to get more comfortable with us. This new member of the family was unfortunately not to last. Our landlord had a sudden change of mind about this cat and wanted him back on the streets. This couldn’t happen, we fought for him to stay but his mind was made. The only option we had left was to find a new home for him. Eventually some locals decided to take him in. We knew this was best for Bubbles even though we had a emotional farewell… We hope your new home is amazing Bubbles! We all miss you.
